Reception time open
Reception service is from 9:00am to 6:00pm.

Cancellation policy
Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to check-in will receive a 75% refund or a 100% credit to be used within one year at the Hotel's availability.

Cancellations made less than 30 days prior to check in will receive a 50% refund or a 100% credit to be used within 1 year subject to Hotel availability.

Cancellations made 7 days or less prior to check in will receive no refund.

Check In Policy
Check In: 3pm-6pm
Check out: Before 11am
Note: we do not have a 24 front desk, please ensure if you are arriving into Guatemala City/Airport your transport to Lake Atitlan leaves on or before 2pm to arrive within the check in hours.

Children Policy
No children under the age of 5. Children 12 and over are charged as an adult.

Pet Policy
We also love pets, just not on the property. We are a pet free hotel.

Smoking Policy
Breathe easy. Kula Maya  is a non-smoking property. This applies to both traditional smoking methods and all electronic delivery systems, including vapes, vaporizers, vape pens, hookah pens, electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes or e-cigs), e-pipes, and any variations of the foregoing regardless of the product’s name. Any smoking in the rooms or strong lingering smoking scents in rooms will result in a disappointed look and a $200 room cleaning fee. 

Standard Booking Price
The standard booking price includes the following:

  • All taxes

  • Utilities (water, gas and electricity)

  • Internet

  • Towels, bed linen and hairdryer

  • Cleaning before and after your stay and  daily cleaning 

  • All apartment amenities and facilities as mentioned on our website pages and in our correspondence

  • Jacuzzi from 5pm till 7pm (only guests)

Guest Safety Policy
As part of our commitment to guest safety, employees will not disclose the identity, room number or presence of a guest to anyone other than appropriate law enforcement. This includes the taking of or delivery of messages or indirect forwarding of phone calls. It is the responsibility of guests to communicate their presence and room number to any person they wish to receive calls or visits from.
Safety cameras are used throughout the premises, and anyone on our property may be recorded. 
The hotel assumes no responsibility for any personal bodily injury incurred while using the Spa or any facilities on site.

Disability Access Policy
We currently are not equipped for the use of wheelchairs.  We have plans to continue the build of our new hotel to completion with these options where feasible. 

Alcohol BYO and Corkage Policy
We have a No BYO Alcohol policy which means no alcohol is to be bought onto the property and consumed.  We have a bar for your alcoholic beverage needs. If you are found to have had alcohol in your accommodation you will be charged a Q100 corkage fee per person.

Reservation policy
Credit Card required to secure booking.
100% of the reservation to be paid is charged at the time of confirmation. All additional transportation and excursion services to be paid in full in advance and are non-refundable

Minimum Age Policy
All guests must be 21 years or older to confirm guest room accommodations at Kula Maya. A valid photo ID must be presented at the time of check in if requested for age verification. 

Room Cleaning Policy
All rooms will be cleaned daily, this is mandatory so please let reception know what time is preferred between 10:00am-2:00pm. Any items found throughout your stay to be stained, damaged or missing will be charged to your room.

Room Policy
We want you to have a great time when you are here. But if things get too crazy, we go by the old-school rule of ‘you break it, you buy it’ and property damages or missing items will be charged to your credit card at market value.
Pre-existing damages or room issues must be reported to the front desk immediately after registration to avoid responsibility and potential charges. 
We want you to feel relaxed and at home, we want everyone to feel that way, so please respect the intention of Kula Maya to be a relaxing and rejuvenating space for all, you can contribute to this by being aware that sound carries easily in our property and to be mindful of the volume of music and voices. 
From 10:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. the whole property goes into hush mode for what we like to call siesta time (or sleep time). 

Power Outage Policy
We can sometimes be affected by Lake or Town wide power cuts which are out of our control.  There are different reasons for these, some are planned and some are not.  This is the reality of living in a third world country.

For the planned power cuts we are usually given 24 hours notice however, even then sometimes these ones do not happen or happen at different times and last longer than is announced.
For planned outages we will Whatsapp all our guests to communicate that this could occur and have the following in place:

  1. Provide a torch for lighting

  2. Have candles and other temporary lighting around

  3. Have back up water for hand washing and toilet flushing 

  4. Have a phone to use for emergency calls

  5. Have wifi hotspot available via phone.

During power outages our water pumps do not work, so there will not be running water. During these times: 

  • Hot shower will not work. 

  • Toilets will not flush. 

  • The Spa services are not available.


We will always communicate what we know about the duration of the power outages although we often do not receive any information until the power comes back on.
These will be no refunds or discounts given due to power cuts/power outages.
